The air is filled with music. Austria is a country with a wealthy history of music and culture. It is here where the world-famous "Vienna Waltz" was perfected by the Strauß dynasty of composers. Today, well-known musicians like DJ Ötzi fill the shoes of their much-celebrated cultural ancestors. Not to forget Falco, the Austrian superstar who achieved acclaim with titles such as "Rock Me Amadeus" and "Der Kommissar" and who passed away after a car accident a few years ago.
Historically, the mountain republic has played a vital role, too. The so-called "K&K Monarchy" was born in Austria. Marie Antoinette and her wedding to the French throne regent or Empress Elisabeth, Sissy in short - all of them have left behind a legacy not just in Vienna. |
